For pros

Add References to Your Pro Application

Name at least one former client or employer who can vouch for your work. How FixAm uses references, how many to add and what stays private.

The last step of your FixAm application asks for references: people who can say you do good work. You need at least 1 and can add up to 3. A reference helps the FixAm team approve you with confidence, and it stays private.

Who makes a good reference

Choose someone who has seen your work and will pick up the phone.

  • A former client. A landlord whose house you wired, a shop owner whose AC you service, a family whose ceiling you fixed.
  • A former employer or master. The person you did your apprenticeship under, or a contractor you worked for on site.
  • A colleague. Someone who worked beside you, if you have no one better.

Avoid family members, and avoid people who only know you as a friend. They cannot speak about your work.

Tell your references before you add them. A short WhatsApp to say FixAm may call about your work is enough, so a call from an unknown number does not surprise them.

Add 1 to 3 references

On the website, step 4. References of the Join as a Pro form:

  1. Type the person's Name, Phone number and Relationship, for example "Former client".
  2. To add another, tap + Add another reference. You can have 3 in total.
  3. Tap Submit Application.

In the FixAm app, the References step works the same way:

  1. Fill in Name, Phone and Relationship on the Reference 1 card.
  2. Tap + Add Reference for a second or third. Tap Remove to take one away.
  3. Tap Submit Application.

One good reference is enough to apply. Two or three give the team more to work with, especially if you are new to your trade or have no certificate.

What we do with their details

Your references are part of your verification. The FixAm team checks them while reviewing your application, and that can include a short call to confirm the person knows you and your work.

Their names and phone numbers stay private. They never appear on your profile, and customers never see them.

After you submit, the team reviews everything within 24 to 48 hours. Pending, approved or rejected explains what happens next. If you have not started yet, How to join as a pro covers all 4 steps.
